To Love Somebody
1967 Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb
According to Barry Gibb, "I met Otis Redding early in the evening [in March 1967], and Robert Stigwood had sort of suggested I write a song for Otis Redding, and I said I would try. ... The rest of the evening I was alone and I sort of concocted most of it in that time. Of course, he died later [December 10, 1967] in a plane crash, so he never recorded the song. But the song was then finished with Robin and Maurice".

The Bee Gees released "To Love Somebody" in their second single on June 1967 ("I Can't See Nobody" on side B) and in LP Bee Gees 1st on July 14, 1967.

The song is one of the most recorded and played songs of The Bee Gees entire catalogue. In the UK it's been a hit for: Bee Gees (1967), Nina Simone (1969), Jimmy Somerville (1990), Michael Bolton (1992). There is also an Italian version, Così ti amo, performed by Califfi, Mal, and by Nina itself.
