My Way
1968 Paul Anka, Claude François, Jacques Revaux, Gilles Thibault
Adaptation by Paul Anka of a 1967 French song titled "Comme d'habitude" ("As Usual") written by Gilles Thibaut (lyrics), Jacques Revaux et Claude François (musique).

In 1969 Frank Sinatra transformed it into a world hit. A Spanish version exist also (Gypsy King, Julio Iglesias, Paul Anka).

Simone's self-arranged version features up-tempo backing instruments (especially drums and conga) and angelic backing vocals. It is different from other interpretations in its fast-pacing rhythm and African influence. It is more a celebration of life itself than a 'last statement'. It became a staple of her live concerts.

On "My Way" see Wikipedia and Second Hand Songs.
